Grant-Making Trusts – a quick Thank you!

Our running costs each year are around £345,000. We raise almost £200,000 from riding lessons, both disabled and non-disabled, which leaves us with around £150,000 to find from various sources.

Some of this money comes from grant-making trusts: charities which have been set up to support other charities.

These are some of the grant-making trusts that have supported us in 2016:

The Bruce Wake Charitable Trust

The Reuben Foundation

The CLA Charitable Trust

The Pennon Group

A & S Lass Charities Ltd

Burges Salmon Charitable Trust

The Fitton Trust

Fred & Marjorie Sainsbury Charitable Trust

The G F Eyre Charitable Trust

Basil Brown Charitable Trust

The Hartfield Charitable Trust

The Lynn Foundation

The Spielman Charitable Trust

Dora Rebecca Fine Charitable Trust

Mrs D M France-Hayhurst Charitable Trust

Medlock Charitable Trust

Misses Barrie Charitable Trust

Souter Charitable Trust

Wessex Water

Douglas Arter Foundation

Leeds Building Society

Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation

The Haramead Trust

The Green Hall Foundation

The Lambury Charitable Trust

Hoof Capital Funding Grant Scheme

Without these trusts, we simply wouldn’t be able to keep working. So a big virtual round of applause for them!

Les Davies OBE, Christine Billing and Fran Willers for donating rugs, hay nets and tack.

Les Davies OBE came to ARC on Saturday and brought a Land Rover full of rugs, hay nets, tack etc for us. These came from Christine Billing and Fran Willers from their yard in Minty, Wiltshire.

Les went around the estate with Dr. Kathryn Monk, one of our trustees and will provide some advice and guidance on developing our estate management activities.  You can find out more on his website: http://www.westcountryman.co.uk/

We would like to say a big thank you to Les, Christine and Fran for their donation.  As a charity we rely very heavily on donations and any help is greatly appreciated.

Venetia Williams wins the day!

Many thanks to everyone involved in helping to make the Venetia Williams lunch such a success – the event raised an amazing £6000 and everyone who attended got a fascinating insight into the life of a Grand National winning horse trainer.

Abseil Team raise over £3000!!

On Sunday 5th April a team of 12 led by Neil Truelove Chair of Trustees gathered on the Portway to take on the ‘Mega Abseil’. Neil was joined by staff members Jane and Yvette, volunteers Joy , Sue, Sinead and Serena, rider Vanessa, Thomson Airways Cabin Crew Vikki and Hannah and Keith and Jerry who are Centre supporters.

The practice abseil, a mere 70ft gave us a taste of what was to come…….sheer terror!

By the time we climbed to the top of the gorge it was cold and drizzling but everyone was up for the challenge and ALL members of the team completed the 190ft Mega Abseil – some with more style than others……

The event was a huge success raising over £3000 and we’re now planning the next challenge. So who’s up for a Firewalk in September??

Thanks to Paul and Kathleen Bennett

Many thanks to Kathleen and Paul Bennett (dressed as Santa) who collected money at various venues around Bristol during December in aid of Avon Riding Centre for the Disabled. Paul handed a cheque for an amazing £2450 to Tania Honey Chief Executive when he visited the Centre recently.

Knowle 50/50 Group

Many thanks to Knowle Methodist Church 50/50 Group who visited the Centre and presented Jane Turner, Community Fundraiser, with a cheque for an amazing £2000!

The group raised this money through various fundraising activities including a concert and nearly new sales.
