Trustees:

Andrew Wimshurst – Chair

Andrew worked in the Pharmaceutical industry with Dow Chemicals, and Novartis and had country and regional responsibility in Africa and the Middle East.  Returning to the UK in 1989 he worked with Unilever, marketing and selling their tea brands internationally before helping to develop two web based management businesses based in Bristol.

Neil Walker – Treasurer

Neil is a Chartered Accountant and has held a number of Finance Director roles and is now a CEO of a law firm based in South Wales.  Neil was keen to get involved and share his finance and business skills, working with the rest of the Trustees to ensure that the Avon Riding Centre continues to be successful.

Gill Edwards – Trustee

Professionally trained as an Orthoptist at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Gill was joint head of department at Bristol Eye Hospital before becoming involved almost full time at Avon Riding Centre in 1987. Gill is an RDA Coach, County Coach, Training Advisor and member of the RDA Mid-West Regional Committee.

Dr Kathryn Monk – Trustee

Currently the Principal Advisor for Science for Natural Resources Wales, Kathryn spent most of her career overseas in development and conservation. She now lives near the Centre and cares for a disabled family member.  She is also a keen horse rider.  Kathryn is responsible for sustainable development of the charity and environmental issues.

Vicki Long – Trustee

Vicki is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers with a  background in Corporate Finance, Treasury and Accounting across a range of companies. Vicki has a passion for horses and is a regular volunteer at disabled riding lessons provided by the Centre. Vicki is currently Company Secretary for the Board and also provides support with corporate governance, financial strategy and accounting matters.   Vicki is also a Trustee for the Bristol Rugby Community Foundation.

Daniel Lombardi – Trustee

Daniel is a second career lawyer, currently working as Legal Counsel for a financial services company in Bristol.  Daniel previously worked in the City in telecommunications.  Before relocating to the South West, he volunteered at Mencap where he helped young adults with disabilities learn everyday life skills.

In addition to the Avon Riding Centre, he is also a Trustee for the Luckington Children’s Playground Charity.

Daniel brings his legal knowledge to the Board along with a commitment to support the positive experiences that the Avon Riding Centre provides to its beneficiaries.

Luke Yoell – Trustee

Luke has several years’ experience in the Human Resources field and presently holds a senior HR position at a division of the international bank, BNP Paribas. Luke’s career has spanned a number of sectors, from health care to financial services, starting in in the early years with support work for young adults with disabilities, through to HR Management in an international setting.

Luke and his family are  close neighbours of the Centre, and are strong supporters of the therapeutic benefits of working  with horses within a healthy, natural setting. Luke is a strong advocate for the preservation and sustainability of the local environment and has an interest in exploring the balance of modern way of living that harmonises  the positive experiences gained the natural world.

Luke will bring his knowledge and skills to support the Board with all People matters and related governance.

Toni Warren – Trustee

Toni has vast experience in the equestrian field, running her own livery stables for over 20 years. Toni brings this knowledge to the Centre, providing support and guidance on all equestrian matters.
