This was our first fun competition for a whole year due to our indoor arena being resurfaced in the October half term. Once again we were fortunate to have a lovely calm, reasonably warm and at times sunny day.
The day ran smoothly, thanks to all our volunteers who worked so hard in the organisation of this event. There were smiles on peoples’ faces whether they were in first place or receiving a ‘Well Done’ rosette and it was really lovely to share the day with riders from some of the other RDA Groups from around our Region. It wouldn’t be the same without you so thank you for making the journey to join in.
As always there were some riders who were disappointed not to be able to get a space in their chosen Class but we do have a limit on how many entries we can fit in on the day unfortunately. Better luck next time!
I would like to take this opportunity to praise the work of our stable staff led by Charmaine Lane who prepared our horses and ponies so beautifully. Congratulations also to all the other groups for their well turned out horses and ponies – not an easy job at this time of year!
We hope to see at least some of you in the Easter holidays when we plan to run our first RDA Show Jumping fun competition – more details to follow soon but meanwhile make a note in your diaries for Wednesday 19th April.

Did you know that we have a therapy room now at the Centre?
On Saturdays, you’ll find Carol from Just You Holistics there. She offers massage therapy, Reflexology, Tibetan Head Massage and Pranic Healing.
Our stable manager, Charmaine, has had a massage and really recommends it.
Just what you need to relax, renew and refresh at the weekend.
You can find out more at her website.
Once again, His Grace the Marquess of Beaufort, and our president the Earl of Worcester gave us permission to run our hugely popular Fun Ride around the estate, just two days after the world famous Mitsubishi Badminton Horse Trials.
It’s a brilliant opportunity for just 50 riders to get up and closer to the simply enormous jumps. We had beautiful weather and the Badminton Estate looked quite magnificent. Thanks so much to all the volunteers whose friendly faces made this such a special event for all the riders, many of whom had travelled for miles for the opportunity to ride on this special day.
Hopefully the pictures below will give a flavour not only of the beautiful riding, but of the friendly atmosphere!
Check out the event’s page here on Facebook for some riders’ and volunteers pictures.
Our RDA dressage event on 17th is now full. If you have managed to secure a place, times will be published on this page. The tests are:
Class 1 Grade I Intro Test (2017) walk only with or without leader (formerly Grade Ia)
Class 2 Grade 2 Intro Test (2017) – walk & trot with or without leader (formerly Grade Ib Intro Test (2012))
Class 3 Grade 3 Championship Test (2017) – walk & trot (formerly Grade II Championship Test (2016))
Class 4 Grade 6 Championship Test (2017) – walk, trot & canter (formerly Grade V Championship Test (2012))
Call 0117 9590266 if you have any questions, or to book your place.
*** We need volunteer stewards for this event. If you’d like to stand en route and guide the runners, please contact Louise in the office by clicking here. ***

On that subject, does anyone have an IKEA Poang chair that they no longer need? We need to put a chair or so in the room and the Poang is just perfect! It’s this one : If you were thinking of getting rid of one soon, please think of us!
We are very short of arena volunteers on the following days:
There are new volunteers being recruited and trained, but until they are ready, can you spare a few hours?
